Aashish Joshi Regmi
Executive Director
Introduction
Aashish Joshi Regmi is a PhD scholar and researcher working at the intersection of development economics, labour policy and political economy. He is currently pursuing a PhD in National Development at Peking University. His doctoral research focuses on vulnerability and resilience among gig workers in Nepal and policy targeting. His academic training is deliberately interdisciplinary. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering, a Master of Business Administration in Strategy and Marketing, and a Master's degree in Political Science. This combination shapes how he approaches policy questions — treating technical systems, institutional incentives and political feasibility together rather than in isolation. Before beginning doctoral study, he spent half a decade in policy-level work in Nepal, and has a long-standing association with Nepal's labour movement. His research interests include the gig economy, new structural economics and welfare democracy. He regularly writes in Nepal’s leading online news portals on development economics and Nepali political and social affairs.
